St. Patrick’s Day Society to celebrate 20th Annual Communion Breakfast
Wilmington, DE – The St. Patrick’s Day Society will host its 20th annual communion breakfast on March 14 at the DoubleTree Hotel on King Street. With more than 1,000 people expected, the mass, parade and breakfast are now a Wilmington St. Patrick’s Day tradition. The breakfast features headliner Joe Conklin, renowned impressionist and Philadelphia radio personality.
“We are thrilled to welcome Joe Conklin to Wilmington to entertain our supporters, many of whom have been with us since day one,” says Joe Farley, Sr., event founder and emcee. “The event is truly remarkable because it both unites Delaware’s Irish-American community and ensures St. Patrick’s Center is equipped to serve those in Wilmington who need our help the most.”
Held annually before St. Patrick’s Day, the breakfast has raised nearly $2,000,000 for St. Patrick’s Center, a community cornerstone on Wilmington’s East Side. Founded in 1971, the center provides those in need with emergency food, meals, clothing, transportation and recreational activities in a welcoming, dignified and respectful environment.
“We are very happy that so many people celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by remembering those less fortunate,” says executive director Joe Hickey. “This outpouring of generosity helps the Center serve more than 7,000 Delawareans every year.”
Purchase tickets through StPatricksCenter.org or by mail. Individual tickets are available for $50 per person, and group sponsorships start at $500. Mass begins at St. Patrick’s Church on March 14 at 7:15 a.m., followed by a parade up King Street to the breakfast at the DoubleTree Hotel. The festivities begin with a sponsor’s dinner on March 13. Additional details are available on the St. Patrick’s event page.
